East Wind Aviation was not opened to fill a market gap or chase a business opportunity. We opened it for one reason only: a passion for aviation. We simply love flying — and everything else about this company is just an excuse to do it.

Before we taught a single lesson, we studied the aviation market deeply — the airplanes that exist, and what each one really offers. The more we learned, the more one question decided everything for us: which airplane is the safest? Again and again, the answer was the same. The Cirrus — the most technologically advanced single-engine airplane in the world, built around safety from the first sketch.

Because for us, safety is not a feature. Safety is the base of everything. Safety first.

​

And this is what safety means in a Cirrus:

• The CAPS parachute — a parachute for the whole airplane, built into every Cirrus. If the worst ever happens, the aircraft itself comes down safely.

• The Level button — one press of the blue LVL button and the airplane levels its wings and holds itself steady, giving the pilot room to breathe and think.

• Safe Return — the airplane can land itself. If a pilot is ever unable to fly, a passenger can press one button, and the Cirrus will navigate to a suitable airport and land on its own, talking to air traffic control along the way. This can save lives — real lives, including the lives of people who have never touched the controls.

• Garmin Perspective Touch+ avionics watching over every flight, with stability and envelope protection working quietly in the background at all times.

So we built East Wind around the Cirrus — the flight school we would choose for our own family, at Billy Bishop Airport in the heart of Toronto.

It all comes back to the same place it started: our passion for aviation and for flying.
